Circular-Shaped Lake

DeFuniak Springs

One of only two natural lakes in the
world that form a perfect circle lies in
the charming small town of the Florida
panhandle. A natural spring feeds the
lake from the rich underground depths
of the Florida aquifer, hence the name
of the town: De Funiak Springs.

The lake is approximately one mile in circumference with shady trees and grassy knolls that slope down from Circle Drive. Circle Drive has a number of historic structures and antebellum homes. The oldest library, founded in 1887, and the Train Depot, built in 1882 overlook the placid, shimmering waters. A historic walking tour is available.
